Award Category 2 – Minor Infrastructure Project(s) – Accessible Buildings and Facilities – Under $1.5M

People with disability have the same opportunities as other people to access buildings or facilities within their communities.  This award category includes infrastructure projects under $1.5M that the local government has significantly contributed to by way of planning, consultation, financial investment and/or construction. The building/facility is to be at minimum of 50% completion at the time of nomination. This includes:

  • New or upgraded buildings that go above the Australian Standard and have design features that specifically consider people with disability.
  • New buildings or added access and inclusion to heritage buildings and facilities;
  • Examples include, (but are not limited to) performing arts centres, interpretive centres, libraries, indoor recreation centres, visitor centres, Council offices, Changing Places, push button facilities, Acrod parking, pathways and other infrastructure and buildings.
