Award Category 5 – Employment

Employment and retention initiatives that result in an increase in the number of people from under-represented groups employed and /or retained in a Local Government workforce.

Under-represented can include and is not limited to:

  • People with disability
  • Women
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Culturally and linguistically diverse people
  • the LGBTIQA+ community
  • Young people
  • Older people

Applicants are encouraged to apply with examples including (but not limited to):

  • Universal Design is the design and composition of an environment so that it can be accessed, understood, and used to the greatest extent possible by all people regardless of their age, size, ability, or disability.
  • Workplace technology: ensuring equitable access to workplace technology is important so that all employees are empowered to effectively undertake their work duties independently, efficiently and with dignity.
